Parrots when they are very young are referred to as parrotlets. They are small creature with a small size measuring around five to six inches. The young ones weigh around slightly below thirty grams. Parrots are kept as pet birds by many people. People are making sure that they get the chance to own a parrot. Many people like them because of their friendly nature and also the fact that one can train the parrot on various issues. Parrotlets have a big appetite which fuels it’s antique and the playful nature. Naturally the parrots like cracking nuts to feed and also exercise their bodies. What is of the nuts could be their food when they open it. Natural supplements are also used as a way of feeding the parrotlets for proper growth. Parrotlets require a lot of energy as compared to fully grown parrots which can feed on nuts and some other readily available food material for survival. Food with very high sugar content is not a good diet for the parrotlets and therefore should be avoided. Parrotlets should be fed with food that contains less amount of sugar content.

Reason as to why they are pet birds is because they need attention and care of man. Provided the parrotlets are properly fed they don’t require too much attention. Fully grown parrots will require about ten minutes attention from their owners mostly for training. Make sure you put enough play materials in the cages of the parrotlets for them to use them when they want to play. Parrotlets don’t need company from other birds as they don’t bond well. Parrots are a territorial bird which only requires the attention of their owners and the attention of fellow parrots. Their houses should be made separate to that of other pets.

The birds can easily get aggressive when they are provoked. They should be separated from the other pets to avoid fights that can occur. Avoid allowing kids to disturb the parrots because they can harm them However the birds are friendly depending on the kind of interaction one has with them.
