Genetic knowledge, reported herein, are derived from over 1100 cats, representing seventeen populations of random bred cats dispersed over five continents (Europe, Mediterranean, Asia, Africa, Americas), in addition to 22 recognized breeds, including each basis and several other modern breeds ( Table 1 ).
